I always get dead excited when I see my home town on the telly, even if it is a total dump. Even if it's not showing it in a good light. Even if it's only because someone was stabbed outside Edmonton Green station or something. They once filmed EastEnders outside Edmonton Baptist Church. That's not unusual though, they film EastEnders all over north London (Stacey Slater running down Barnet High Street springs instantly to mind), so Edmonton was bound to achieve primetime television fame at some point.
Of course there's the classic Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em clip where Frank Spencer's on rollerskates at Picketts Lock and that bridge that used to be next to the bus station (What was that even for??)
But I find Edmonton Green's at its most exciting when its in a music video. Shows the place's best side. First there was this Lostprophets video filmed in the old multi-storey car park that was demolished to make way for Asda...
And now... Will Young's new vid is filmed at said Asda. And Home Bargains. All the greats.
